School Transfer Form  (FOR STUDENTS WHO RESIDE WITHIN THE DISTRICT OR ARE ALREADY ATTENDING A ROBBINSDALE SCHOOL)
A school transfer form is required when a resident student living within the district wishes to attend a school other than his or her attendance area school. This includes students who might apply to attend a middle school that is not their attendance area school for programming. School transfer forms for the 2017-18 school year are available for download at the top of this pageand paper copies are available at the Education Service Center and at every school.

Please bring completed forms to the Education Service Center, attention MaryAnn Davila.

According to board policy, all transfer requests are subject to space availability, date received and the following priority order:
  1. Resident students enrolling in their attendance area school.
  2. Currently enrolled students who have moved to an address outside of the school attendance area requesting to remain in the same school.
  3. Siblings of currently enrolled students requesting transfer into the same school.  A sibling is defined as a child who shares at least one parent or legal guardian with another child who is currently enrolled at the same school at the time of application and will be enrolled at the same school with the applicant.
  4. Resident students requesting transfer to a school of their choice.
  5. Children of employees requesting to transfer to a district school.  This priority is not intended for independent contractors or temporary, substitute or seasonal employees.
  6. Currently enrolled non-resident students requesting transfer to a school of their choice;
  7. Non-resident students who are not currently enrolled in a district school requesting transfer to a school of their choice.

Once a school transfer request is approved, the family is not required to reapply from one year to the next as long as the child remains in the approved school. The district reserves the right to assign the student to a particular building during the transition from grade 5 to grade 6 and from grade 8 to grade 9.

Spanish Immersion students who are not continuing the Spanish Immersion program in Grade 6 and who are not in the PMS attendance area are required to fill out a transfer form if they wish to attend Plymouth Middle School.

Open Enrollment Applications  (FOR STUDENTS WHO RESIDE OUTSIDE OF THE ROBBINSDALE DISTRICT)
An open enrollment application is necessary when a non-resident student living outside the district is interested in enrolling in Robbinsdale Area Schools. Open enrollment is a legal right in the state of Minnesota.

Applications for the 2017-18 school year are available to download at the top of this webpage, and paper copies are available at the Education Service Center and at every school.

When space is available, open enrollment requests are approved in the order they are received and on a priority basis (see above). Sibling enrollments, daycare arrangements and circumstances unique to an individual child are considered but do not guarantee approval of the transfer request.

A family is not required to reapply for open enrollment from one year to the next as long as the child remains continuously enrolled in the district. Once a student is approved for open enrollment, the district reserves the right to assign the student to a particular building during the transition from grade 5 to grade 6 and from grade 8 to grade 9, as well as when school boundary changes become necessary.

Please bring completed forms to the Education Service Center.

Families of students approved for School Transfers will need to provide their own transportation to and from any non-magnet school outside their attendance area.
