Mark Campbell, one of Robbinsdale Area Schools’ remarkable students, pushes himself on and off the basketball court.
“I love basketball,” the FAIR School Crystal eighth-grader says. “I started four years ago, and I’ve progressed a lot.”
That progress came after a lot of hard work. Mark wanted to get better, and dedicated himself to practice. Playing at Robbinsdale Middle School, Mark scrimmages with other students, learns about stretches and tries to do better each day in the hope of making the best team.
He even practices at recess, when other kids are shooting hoops for fun.
“I have a loud voice, so I can gather people together and we can play a game,” Mark says. “I practice, practice, practice against peers that I know are talented.”
In addition to pushing himself to be on the best basketball team, Mark has been chosen for school leadership groups, too, and is proud of that. He hopes to be a basketball player when he grows up, or work with the Minnesota Timberwolves.
