Elementary
The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IBPYP) at Lakeview Elementary is a transdisciplinary program of international education which focuses on the total growth of the developing child. PYP uses the inquiry method to help provide a hands-on approach to learning. The IB program seeks to help students appreciate different cultures and gain an understanding of their place in the world. IBPYP is a challenging academic program which serves all students a K-5 at Lakeview Elementary School.
Lakeview Elementary received full authorization by the International Baccalaureate Organization (IBO) in April 2010 and is now an International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IBPYP) school.
At Robbinsdale Spanish Immersion School (RSIS), all instruction in kindergarten and first grade is given in Spanish. By the middle of first grade, students are expected to respond only in Spanish. In second through 5th grade, all core content areas except for English language arts continue to be taught and learned in Spanish. Goals in an immersion school: students will be proficiency in a second language, students will acquire content area skills in both English and Spanish, and students will develop increased awareness and appreciation of other cultures.

Middle School
The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IBMYP) is designed for students in 6th through 10th grades at Robbinsdale Middle School and Robbinsdale Cooper High School. IBMYP strives to meet the unique needs of students from diverse cultural and economic backgrounds while addressing traits common to all young people. IBMYP students rise to expectations beyond academics focusing on organization skills and problem solving along with a strong emphasis on community service. Robbinsdale Area Schools features the first IBMYP in Minnesota authorized by the International Baccalaureate Organization, the governing board of the program.
Pre-Advanced Placement Courses courses are offered to students at Plymouth Middle School. Pre-AP is based on the premises that all students can perform at rigorous academic levels and that Pre-AP can prepare students for higher intellectual engagement. The Pre-AP opportunity can help all students acquire the knowledge, concepts and skills needed to engage in a higher level of learning they need to succeed in Advanced Placement courses in high school.
High School
International Baccalaureate Diploma Program (IB) is a challenging two-year program of international education for juniors and seniors at Robbinsdale Cooper High School. It leads to a qualification that is widely recognized by the world’s leading universities. Students learn more than a collection of facts. The Diploma Program prepares students for college and encourages them to ask challenging questions, learn how to learn, develop a strong sense of their own identity and culture and develop the ability to communicate with and understand people from other countries and cultures.
The Advanced Placement (AP) Program, a cooperative educational endeavor between secondary schools and colleges and universities, is offered at Robbinsdale Armstrong High School. AP provides motivated high school students with the opportunity to take college-level courses in a high school setting. Students who take AP classes not only gain college-level skills, but in many cases they also earn college credit while they are still in high school. AP courses are taught by specially-trained high school teachers.
