Preschool Options
Robbinsdale Area Schools embraces education from birth through adulthood, and is well prepared to serve our youngest students through our Early Childhood Family Education and Early Childhood Special Education departments. We offer several preschool options. Creative Play Preschool serves children ages 3 to 5 years in a high quality preschool program. Kindergarten Prep serves children who are 5 years, but not quite ready for kindergarten, and Early Childhood Screening helps to identify possible developmental issues that might get in the way of your child's learning.
Preschool Enrollment Process
Creative Play Preschool
1. Fill out the registration card found on the Creative Play Preschool page by clicking here, or available in person at the Creative Play office, located at the New Hope Learning Center. Families can print the registration card from the website and either mail it in, or bring it to the office in person.
2. With the registration, enclose the first month's tuition payment. The Creative Play Preschool staff cannot accept credit cards, so payment and registration must be completed through the mail or in person at their office.
3. If a family is interested in applying for tuition assistance, the appropriate forms and policy can also be found on the Creative Play Preschool web pages.
Early Childhood Family Education
1. You can register by mailing in or dropping off the completed registration form, which can be found by clicking here.
2. Call ECFE at 763-504-4170.
Kindergarten Prep
1. If your child has turned five by September 1, they are eligible for Kindergarten Prep. Click here to read the Kindergarten Prep brochure.
2. To enroll in the Kindergarten Prep Program, return the registration form found here, along with the child's birth certificate and proof of Early Childhood Screening.
Early Childhood Screening
1. Call the Early Childhood Screening department to set up an hour-long appointment free of charge for your child. Their office can be reached at 763-504-4180. Screening is required by Minnesota law for all children before they enter kindergarten. Click here for the Early Childhood Screening website.
2. Approximately one week before your scheduled appointment, you will receive a reminder notice.
3. Please arrive on time for your appointment. Each screening takes approximately an hour to complete.
5. After the screening is complete, you will meet with the screener for an exit interview, to discuss information about the child's development and address any final questions or concerns either of you have. Referrals and information about community programs are also made available at this time.
