Isaac Griffin-Wiesner, one of Robbinsdale Area Schools’ remarkable students, pushes himself as an athlete and academic.

This Robbinsdale Cooper High School senior keeps busy both inside and outside of the classroom. He performs with the Chamber Singers and Concert Choir, and is captain of the cross country, Nordic Skiing and Ultimate Frisbee teams. Isaac also takes advantage of the academic opportunities at Cooper, including the International Baccalaureate Programme.

“I’ve always tried to do as much as I can in school,” he says. “I wanted to do the IB Programme because it would get me ready for college. It’s a huge benefit – it pushes me harder and makes me learn to work. It’s learning how to think about doing something versus just doing it.”

Isaac was recently recognized as a National Merit Semifinalist. The nationwide pool of semifinalists represents less than 1 percent of U.S. high school seniors. It’s one of his proudest moments, he says. Looking to the future, Isaac wants to explore a career in physics. His experience at Cooper has helped prepare him for the rigor of a laboratory.

“The IB Programme and the district’s focus with this program is that you have to push yourself,” Isaac says. “They make us want to succeed.”

Isaac is Robbinsdale. At Robbinsdale Area Schools, we value the differences that make all of our students unique. We approach our work with individual focus on each and every student’s infinite potential.
